Around Malmo

Today was BOILING so Mark hired a bike (Billy) and together with Brenda we went off for a day of culture and sunbathing. We headed out to the castle which has been converted into a museum documenting the history of the people of Malmo. Amongst recording the battles- between Denmark and Sweden, the plague, the various rulers, it also showed some of the interesting methods for killing their enemies. From here we went to see a photography exhibition by Lee Miller (US war photographer) with some gruesome but very moving images. Passing the tram we got to the little huts that the fishermen sell their catch from early every morning. We ended up finally in the sea with every other resident of Malmo. Mark made me jump in off the pier and I thought I would die from the cold…God help me in the swimtrek! After catching a few rays we headed out to Pildammsparken for more live music which we felt obliged to catch because of the bands name “Jaqee”. They were excellent, a cross between Tracey Chapman and Billie Holiday. The last photo shows our bikes chained up in our hotel courtyard, the tables and chairs are where we eat breakfast every morning.

Glad to see you are getting around and soaking up the culture as well as the music with Brenda and Billy!! It’s brill now we can see the photos - your education has paid off and you write so that we feel we are there with you, which is great.
I didn’t see my comment about Brenda the bike so I don’t know what I must have pressed, message gone into cyber space no doubt. What I did say was that if you decide to bring Brenda back to the UK and want to sell her give me first refusal, I love her.
Take care both - love Irene, Pat and Terry

Hi Irene, Pat & Terry, Brenda is very popular over here and at home with several people making an offer on her, especially mum! She is wonderful and the best bit is her big comfy padded seat! I thought you and Pat both had fantastic American style bikes? I remeber Mark and I were really jealous of those.
